Paint your world blue


While color experts ,Pantone, named the earthy Marsala as the color of the year for 2015,  the color blue remains very popular in both fashion and home décor.

Take a moment to step back into that 3 rd grade classroom where you learned that, along with red and yellow, blue is one of the three primary colors found on the color wheel. You learned that you can mix blue with another of the primary colors to create a third color i.e. blue and yellow make green, blue and red make purple etc.

Often identified as the most universally popular color, psychologically speaking, blue evokes thoughts of the ocean and sky and can be very calming and soothing to many people—great choice for the bedroom. It can also reduce the appetite so might be a good choice for a dining room! It speaks of loyalty, reliability and trust, making it a good color for public spaces as well as creating a welcoming feel in your home.

As with many colors, there are dozens of shades of the color blue.  They range from a soft pastel often referred to as “baby blue” to the currently popular cobalt blue and many shades in between. Pair blue with other colors in the room to change the look and feel of the space. For example:

Blue and red are a happy and cheerful color combination. They can be nautical, patriotic, youthful or sophisticated as seen in the photo below.
