Maine WoodWorks opened its workshop in Saco, Maine in 1988 as a member of Creative Work Systems, a non-profit agency serving people with disabilities. Their furniture is created solely from solid hardwoods, primarily pine - no veneers are used. Evidence of quality craftsmanship is shown in the four corner dovetail drawers with solid 3/4" thick pine panels, Euro-glide drawer slides of 3/4 extension rated to 100 lbs per drawer, and an environmentally-friendly finishing process using water-based acrylic lacquer.
Best of all is the myriad of color choices to choose from, as well as an optional weathered finish, and a choice of solid, beadboard, or barnboard paneling.
In conjunction with Creative Work Systems, Maine WoodWorks provides opportunities for employment and job training for people with disabilities, which has resulted in a positive impact to their employees and community.
